Death defines the horizon of human endeavour in every conceivable domain. Not surprisingly, confronting our mortality provides a powerful means of leveraging personal growth. Indeed, some would assert that the fear of death lies at the root of much of our anxiety. Often the experience of loss, illness, trauma, ageing or even a conspicuous dream can bring the latent fear of death to the fore.

Confronting our mortality enables us to:
1. Reassess our values, rearrange our priorities
2. Live and communicate more authentically
3. Appreciate more keenly the beauty and mystery of existence
4. Reduce our risk aversion, thereby allowing us to lead more fulfilling lives

At the heart of Solivagant’s retreats and workshops on death awareness, a series of trancework death meditations harnesses our awareness and fear of death as a powerful tool for personal growth. In some ways, these trancework sessions resemble the core features of Maranasati meditations common to Buddhist practice, but the sessions offered by Solivagant are secular, and are readily applicable to any spiritual tradition or none.
